The Best Is Never Apathetic

The Best Is Never Apathetic

YOU have been on our email list for a long time! By now,
you know what kind of organization 80-20 is. Chances are
you think 80-20 tries hard, but has NOT served you perfectly.

If that is the case, may I urge you to join as a member?

Get involved. I know that you are not apathetic or a freeloader. 80-
20 is the ONLY Asian American organization that fights for you in the
political arena, bravely and effectively. No organization is to anyone's
perfect liking, when one has watched its actions for a long time.

Of the millions of Asian Americans only 1900 were willing to pay
$35/$50 to help build Asian American political clout. Isn't that a
shame?

Why political clout? To break the glass ceiling in your workplaces; to
lower the higher admission bar for your offspring; and to get more
AsAm Federal judges appointed, currently totaling 0.7% of the nation
while our population is 4.4% !!!

Many in the mainstream community view Asian Americans as self-
centered, no civic spirit and timid, only texture-less math nerds
gathering money. 80-20 needs your help to break that negative
stereotype image against us, and to fight our way to become equal
citizens of America.

80-20 has and will do things for you and your children that you
yourself can not possibly do AS AN INDIVIDUAL. But united in 80-20, we
can together do even more. Does $50 mean that much to you? See
"80-20's Proud Record Of Service This Year," attached at the end.

80-20's RECORD OF SERVICE

What 80-20 has done for our community in the last 6 months:

1) On 6/11/06 Full page ads in Korean, Indian, Filipino, Vietnamese,
Japanese and Chinese newspapers. Message? Asian Americans unite to
shatter the glass ceiling above us.

2) On 9/6/06 Full page ad in the Washington Post to call America's
attention to the unequal opportunity suffered by us.

3) On 9/21/06 U.S. Senator Tom Carper read YOUR Washington Post ad
into the Congressional Record and asked other Senators to note it.

4) On 10/23/06 Governor Howard Dean, Chairman of the Democratic
Party wrote 80-20 President, S. B. Woo, promising concrete and specific
help in our battle to win equal opportunity in workplaces -- a historic
precedent!

5) On 10/24/06 In return to the above commitment, 80-20 urged Asian
Ams to vote for Democrats in all Congressional races with 2 exceptions.

6) On 11/7/06 80-20 showed that Asian Ams' bloc vote can help win
tight and crucial elections. AsAams helped Democrats win not only the
House but also the Senate leadership. 2 of 4 tough races, focused by
80-20, were victorious. Without the AsAm bloc vote, Democrats
could not possibiliy have won the Senate race in Virginia!

Through the above series of events, 80-20 demonstrated dedication
and deep political knowledge and skills using them to advance rightful
concerns of AsAms. See 80-20's "Prediction of Election Results"
below that was published 4 days BEFORE the election:

"85% chance that the Democrats will win the U.S. House.
60% chance that the Democrats will win at least a 50-50 split in the Senate.
80% chance that 80-20 will help win at least 3 of the 4 TOUGH races it
has focused on. 80-20 also urged its two chapters in Missouri to
help the McCaskill Senate campaign. (Democrats won that close senate
race. ) Hence, even the 1.1% Asian Am. population can make a difference
through a bloc vote."

WHAT'S NEXT?

7) On MM/DD/YY Congressional HEARING on the powerful statistics
gathered by 80-20 showing that Asian Americans have faced the LOWEST
glass ceiling in the nation. The House/Senate Labor Comm. recommended …
(some kind of action to provide relief for Asian Ams.)

Does the above excite your imagination?

Proof of Effectiveness of 80-20's Endorsement

[A] How Strong is the Asian Am. Bloc Vote?

Our bloc vote is stronger than that of Labor Unions! See below.

Source:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/pages/results/states/VA/S/01/epolls.0.html .
CNN has explicit data on how AsAms voted in 3 Senate races only, where the % votes were large enough. For the same reason, how union members (UM) voted in Virginia is not available.

State VA NJ CA
% of AsAm voters 3% 3% 6%
Sen. Candidates Webb/Allen Menendez/Kean Feinstein/Mnfjoy
How AsAms voted 68/32 74/24 70/26
How UM voted Unavailable 63/37 65/30

[B] Proof of 80-20's Influence On Asian Am. Voters.

How does one know that Asian Ams voted for Democrats in Federal races owing to 80-20's endorsement? Could it be that Asian Ams are simply voting more and more for Democrats?
No. Here is the proof.

80-20 endorsed the Democratic Party for all Congressional races but not any of the state races. So, let's find out if AsAms voted for Democrats in state races as well. The only CNN exit poll that explicitly lists how AsAms voted in a state race is the CA gubernatorial race. It showed
that Asian Ams instead favored the Republican candidate Schwarzenegger by a large margin. See below.

Democrat GOP
How AsAms voted in Senate races nationally* 70 30
How AsAms voted in House races nationally** 62 37
How AsAms voted CA's Governor's race in which 37 62
80-20 didn't make an endorsement

* An estimated figure. Note that few senate races were held in the southern states in 2006.
** CNN has NO explicit data on how AsAms voted in any single House races. But it does provide the national average figure.

[C] Urging you to Consider Joining 80-20
In the past, many Asian Ams. AVOIDED joining any political org. That was what got our community to be so lacking in GROUP political strength. It in turn got us to be the MOST discriminated at work and having the SMALL-EST proportion of Federal judges. Politics plays a big role in your life, whether it is your promotion at work or your children's admission to
universities. 80-20 is fighting for YOU where YOU as an individual is powerless.

CNN Exit Poll: AsAms Can Reward or Punish A Pol. Party

On 10/24/06, 80-20 called for Asian Ams. to vote for Democrats in
all congressional races with 2 exceptions. Reason? Repeated contact with
the Republican Party were ignored, while the Chair of the Democratic
Party promised in writing on 10/23/06 to help Asian Ams.

To show our political clout, AsAms MUST reward D and punish R through
the 2006 election, the more consequential the better! We did just that!
CNN exit polls showed that without our help, the Democratic Party would
NOT have won the Senate. See irrefutable evidence presented below.

[A] CNN exit polls: Source: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/pages/results/states/TX/S/01/epolls.0.html.

CNN did exit polls for all 33 Senate races. However, only 3 of the 33
races have sufficient number of AsAm voters to qualify for explicit listing.

State VA
% of AsAm voters 3%
Sen. Candidates Webb/Allen
How AsAms voted 68/32

State NJ
% of AsAm voters 3%
Sen. Candidates Menendez/Kean
How AsAms voted 74/24

State CA
% of AsAm voters 6%
Sen. Candidates Feinstein/Mnfjoy
How AsAms voted 70/26

[B] Without 80-20, Democrats would NOT win the Senate.

1) Background Info: Democrat Webb won VA Senate race by 7231 votes giving
Dems the Senate leadership. If 80-20 didn't endorse the Dems or had instead
endorsed GOP, the incumbent GOP Senator Allen would have won by at least
22,543 votes. See evidence below.

2) According to CNN poll figures, Virginians cast 2,364,217 votes for the
senate races, while 3% of the 2,364,217 votes or 70926 votes were cast by
AsAms. Of those, Webb got an advantage of (68 - 32) or 35 points
which translates to (70926 x 0.35) or 29,824 votes.

Since Webb won by 7231 votes only, it is easy to see that if
80-20 didn't endorse D or had endorsed GOP, AsAms would likely have voted
about 50/50 or in favor of Allen, Webb would have lost by at least (29,824
- 7231) = 22543 votes instead of winning by 7231 votes.

[C] Conclusion
By voting as a bloc and showing that Asian Americans have the voting
power to reward or punish a political party, we have greatly strengthened
our political clout. It means that we are close to getting both political
parties to pay attention to our rightful concerns.

[D] Sneak Preview for the next 3 emails

In the next 3 mass emails, 80-20 will present to you
(1) Asian Americans show a strong bloc vote than the Union members, and
(2) How politics works -- how DNC helped us and we helped back to help
win the Senate leadership for the Democratic Party.
(3) How 80-20 will try to reach the GOP again.

Will You help Our Children Win?

For so long, BOTH political parties have ignored our rightful interests, though wanting our money.

ONE exception! During the "campaign finance scandal of 1997," which NY Times termed "Asia Gate," both parties competed to disassociate themselves from us.

80-20 rose to change the above. It has made GREAT PROGRESS:

FIRST, in 2004, 9 of the 10 Democratic presidential candidates promised IN WRITING to 80-20 to help AsianAm. gain equal opportunity in workplaces, if elected.

SECOND, this year the Chair of the Democratic Nat'l Party, Howard Dean, did the same thing IN WRITING for 80-20. This year, Democrats are mostly likely to WIN the House, and possibly the Senate.

VOTE DEMOCRATS in all House races except for in Delaware and CA-11. VOTE DEMOCRATES in all Senate races.

When the Republican Party realizes how AsAms can help win crucial tight elections, they'll begin to pay attention to our concerns in order to court our vote in the NEXT election.

OUR CHILDREN WILL WIN!

Help get out the Democratic votes. Our children look to you to seize this historic moment. Go get a few votes for Democrats.

Election Forecast -- GREAT NEWS

80-20's Forecast on the 2006 election:

85% chance that the Democrats will win the U.S. House.
60% chance that the Democrats will win at least a 50-50 split in the
Senate i.e. taking over about half of the Committee Chairmanship.
80% chance that 80-20 will help win at least 3 of the 4 TOUGH races it
has focused on. 80-20 also urged its two chapters in Missouri to
help the McCaskill Senate campaign. That race is in a 49/49 split.
Hence, even the 1.1% Asian Am. population can make a difference
through a bloc vote.

DETAILS on the 4 focused races, each with a 6% or larger AsAm
population:

(1) Tammy Duckworth in IL 6 (South-West Suburb of Chicago):

a) Endorsed by Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald, Chicago Sun-Times,
Pioneer Press -- a clean sweep of all major area papers,
b) Reuters poll (a well-respected poll): Duckworth leads her opponent
by 54 to 40 in the latest poll although it was a deadheat earlier. See how
a united community can help! However, her opponent has 4 times her
cash and is dumping attack ads on her, and
c) Her site: http://www.duckworthforcongress.com/ She can use
money.

(2) Darcy Burner in WA 8 (City of Seaettle):

a) endorsed by Seattle Post-Intelligencer: Darcy Is Better,
b) Can use money and volunteers, and
c) http://www.darcyburner.com/ .

(3) Nicholas Lampson in TX 22 (Houston's southern suburb):

a) Endorsed by Houston Chronicle, the area's largest paper,
b) His opponent's name has to be written in, decreasing her chance, and
c) His site: http://www.lampson.com/ / . He can use volunteers to get
out his voters.

(4) Bob Menendez's Senate Campaign in NJ:

a) Endorsed by NY Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Star Ledger and the
Record -- a clean sweep of major papers,
b) Leading in all major polls by 5 to 7 points; has twice his opponent's
cash on hand. Can use volunteers to do GOTV, and
c) http://www.menendez2006.com/ .

HELP OURSELVES by helping Democrats win the Congress. Do your
share.

CROSS POLLINATION is very effective in politics. Email your friends
and relatives
in those 4 focused races plus the one in MO to urge them
to vote for Democratic congressional cnadidates. The Republican
Party wants our money but has repeatedly refused to pay attention to our
rightful concerns in equal opportunity in workplace. Indeed, many Asian
American Republican leaders denigrate our efforts. Time to give the
Republican Party a strong awakening message.
