2 Victories Plus Very Sad News.

Two Great Victories & 1 Pending

1.  We Dumped Trump!

We didn’t do it alone.  But we were the first in the nation calling to dump Trump, right after Trump used the term "Chinese virus". On March 23, 80-20 published "Demand Apology or Reject Trump", when Republicans were absolutely certain that Trump would be re-elected, and when Democrats were mired in their primaries. Go visit the 132 feedbacks left on the Poster Board of that e-newsletter. See how money and support poured in! This sentiment and strategy spread and spread ... to the whole nation.

2. Defeated CA’s Prop 16 by a landslide, 55% to 44%.

We didn’t do it alone either.  But 80-20 is the only national AsAm org. to lead the opposition in CA against Prop 16.

3. Outcome of flipping the Senate is ???

It’ll depend on the 2 runoff senate elections in Georgia in January.

The Significance of Dumping Trump

Van Jones, a CNN commentator, said it best: “Well it is easier to be a parent this morning.…It’s easier to tell your kid that character matters.  Telling the truth matters. Being a good person matters.  It is easier for a whole lot of people..."

I, S. B. Woo, like to add to Van Jones's statement: ”IT IS EASIER FOR A PERSON OF CHINESE DESCENT TO LIVE IN THE USA, AFTER THIS ELECTION.”

The Significance of Defeating Prop 16 In CA

Are you aware of the following shocking facts?   9 Asian American legislators voted for ACA 5. California's Controller Betty Yee, Treasurer Fiona Ma, former Controller/Treasurer John Chiang, Congressmembers Judy Chu & Ted Lieu all supported Prop 16.

When something is grossly out of whack in our community, don’t just blame others.  To start the correction process, EXAMINE SELF FIRST. 80-20 was partially at fault. Henceforth, 80-20 shall try hard to be in closer contact with our elected AsAm officials nationwide.

Many of YOU are also at fault. YOU must not support candidates just because they are AsAms.  YOU need to know if the candidates share your concerns and hold them accountable during election time.  Don’t be satisfied just because AsAm politicians attend your weddings and funerals and take pictures with you.  That is silly.  YOU need to reach out and tell elected officials your principal concerns.

Very Sad News OR 80-20 Needs Your Help!

If you think 80-20 Educational Foundation and Empowerment PAC are of critical Importance to you, then we respectfully request your sacrifice & help.

In that regard, our Board members came unanimously to a very sad conclusion.   That is, unless 80-20 can greatly expand its financial and human resourcesIT SHALL SLOWLY DIE when the old war horses like Alice Huang, Henry Lee and I will fade away, since our younger colleagues like Wei-jing Zhu, Jing-Li Yu and Elaine Su, with full-time jobs and duties, are not yet ready to carry the torch fully.  80-20 shall slowly burn through its current assets of about $4 million, saved penny by penny by past & current Board members with deep sacrifice, and SLOWLY DIE

In the next few weeks, we’ll present you with a RESCUE PLAN that will require deep sacrifices from ALL of us to make it work.  Our sincere & serious apologies for the sad news.

Forward this e-newsletter to individuals who may have the ability to RESCUE 80-20 but who are thus far not involved with 80-20.

3 Steps To Victory - Trump Dumped

 (1) Dump Trump - Going, Going, GONE!

Dump Trump, before he dumps us into deep trouble in the next 4 years. If he is re-elected, without the constraint of needing to get re-elected, he'll do crazier things to hurt us in every respect, including our ethnic dignity.

Remember Trump's "Chinese virus", "China virus" and "Kung flu"? 80-20 normally would NOT address our president this way. However, if Trump doesn't respect us, then we'll not respect him. We hit back fiercely, especially when no other AsAm/ChAm organizations seem to have the gumption to do that.

A message MUST be passed to our political establishment:
Don’t tread on us!

(2) Try to Help Flip the Senate

A Senate under Democratic leadership is normally kinder towards the immigrant community.

(3) Vote NO on Prop 16, if you vote in CA

Merit is more important than "race preference" in college admissions.

A heart-to-heart talk before you vote?

 Dear Fellow AsAms,

My name is S. B. Woo, former Lt. Governor of DE. Like most people on this e-mail list, you may be a good friend &/or a great supporter whom I had the privilege to know for decades, while others may have been on this list recently. :-)

For friends, new or old, allow me to begin our conversation this way. For the last 24 years, I have been serving our community as a volunteer, and donated at least $200,000 for our shared destiny. I am not aware of another AsAm ex-politician who has made the same choices.

With the above track record, I beg the privilege of having a cyberspace heart-to-heart talk with you. Let's talk about whom to vote for to BETTER PROTECT OURSELVES.

The reality of America is that we AsAms face a unique problem - Asia is rising, but American political leaders are not comfortable with it yet.

Remember how Japanese Ams were interned in WWII but not the German or Italian Ams? Remember how severely America bashed Japan in the 1970's to early 80’s when Japan’s economy was catching up with ours?  Witness how America bashes China today, as it shall bash India, if India’s economy tries to surpass that of America.

We do NOT NEED to dwell on matters of the STATE.  However, we DO NEED to protect ourselves from possible collateral damage coming from the America's discomfort with a rising Asia. That leads me to the topic of the 2020 election

There is no doubt in my mind that Biden will be less troublesome to AsAmsthan Trump. My wife worked in Biden’s Senate office for about 6 years. I met and interacted with Biden numerous times. We’ve been to his home many times. We know his family members and political confidants. I am NOT endorsing Biden, because he has NOT promised in writing to 80-20 to help AsAms achieve equal opportunity. But I feel I know Biden enough to strongly recommend to you to "Dump Trump.”

We AsAms, particularly Chinese Americans, will suffer less under Biden even assuming that the US-China struggle will continue, without abating.  Few individuals are as harsh, crude, heartless and as ready to sacrifice all others for his personal success and glorification as Donald Trump.

Trump may also be a strong racist. Remember his “Chinese virus” and “Kung flu”? Remember his rants against Mexicans and people in less developed nations in Africa?

Please pass this email to your friends and relatives.
Dump Trump so that Trump can’t dump YOU
in deep trouble in the next 4 years!
                                       TOGETHER, we shall overcome.

Most sincerely,

S.B. Woo
President, 80-20 AsAm Empowerment PAC

PS: CA's Prop 16 "Likely to come up short", according to LA Times." Don't relax. Vote NO on Prop 16.
