On June 6, Asian Americans registered in California as Democrats or
Declines (Independents) will be the kingmakers in deciding who will
win in the gubernatorial Democratic primary election. This will greatly
politically empower those AsAms residing in CA.
That race is very tight. Hence 80-20 has decided to seize the
opportunity and do an endorsement of either Mr. Angelides or Mr.
Westly. The candidate with the best program to provide AsAms with
equal opportunity in the state government and state-supported
enterprises will win the endorsement. The endorsed candidate will
most likely win the June 6 (Tuesday) election. 80-20 has a track record
of having delivered bloc votes in the last two consecutive presidential
elections. See http://www.80-20initiative.net under "Evidence of Bloc
Votes."
Elections are the best times for voters to seek relief for their grievances!
80-20 will contact the two candidates for their issue positions
regarding equal opportunity in workplaces. Info. will be posted on 80-
20's website. 80-20 members residing in CA will vote
electronically to decide which candidate to endorse around May 28.
[NOTE: To be eligible to vote in that electronic convention, you must
join before May 25 and live in CA. To join, see the end of this
email.]
Once the endorsed candidate is known, 80-20 shall provide the
resources to drive out the votes. Of course YOU can help. You have a
lot to vote for -- politically empowering yourselves. The endorsement is
valid for the primary election only.
Much more information will be provided to AsAm voters in the next
14 days through emails and media ads. Some info, such as who may
vote; how to obtain absentee ballot (since there is still time); how to
find out your polling places, .., etc. are already available on 80-20's
website. http://www.80-20initiative.net/cademprimary.html .
In CA, about 75% of Asian Americans are registered as Democrats
and Declines or Independents. Hence, in this primary where both
Democrats and Declines can vote, Asian Americans will be 10 to
12% of the voters, if not larger, given 80-20's ability to drive out the
votes.
PASS THE WORD: Ask your friends and relatives not to cast their
absentee ballots yet. 80-20 will announce whom to endorse around
May 28 (Sunday).
#############
80-20 has decided to endorse after polling 1050 current and past
members and donors. Primaries are normally decided by activists.
Hence we poll the activists. The support was unexpectedly strong.
93% of the respondents will either vote for 80-20's endorsed candidate
or give "very serious consideration" to him. To know more about the
poll: http://www.80-20initiative.net/cademprimary.html .
