80-20 Protects Your Rights

UPDATE on Sherry Chen "Spy" Case
You may recall that 80-20 sought the good office of Senator Tom Carper of Delaware to seek answers to the unfortunate encounter of Sherry Chen with the Dept. of Justice, DOJ.  For details, see a New York Times article "Accused of Spying for China, Until She Wasn't".

Senator Carper's office has been most helpful.  His staff made repeated inquires with DOJ.  The latest I have heard is that the DOJ is conducting hundreds of interviews relating to this matter.  Therefore, it'll be sometime yet before DOJ would reply formally.

My own sense is that DOJ understands by now the very strong concerns of the Asian Am community in DOJ's apparent mishandling of the Sherry Chen case.  It is seriously investigating whether race was an element in the handling of the Sherry Chen case.  However, we should await a formal DOJ report to be certain.

80-20 is thus far satisfied with the progress of our strong concerns expressed to DOJ and conveyed by the good office of Sen. Carper.

UPDATE on 80-20's letter to Atty. Gen. Lynch

On June 16, 80-20 Pres. S. B. Woo  wrote to Attorney General Lynch via email and a certified letter, return receipt requested.  The aim of the letter was "to erase the chilling effect produced by the mishandling of the Sherry Chen case."A few days ago, Woo received a form reply from DOJ stating: "Your letter will be reviewed and if a response or an update is necessary it will be sent to you within 60 business days.  . . ."

Note that Woo's email to AG Lynch NEVER received a reply.  However, 80-20 knows that in dealing with the government, it is best to have a paper trail. That was why "a certified letter, return receipt requested' was sent together along with an email. :-)

We Appeal to Your Enlightened Self-Interest (Part II)

                                       Great Knights

A couple of anonymous GREAT knights rode in, sending $202,244 to SELF.  What generosity!   It truly illustrates what is easily said but rarely practiced:  "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

Woo's Foundation (WF) just sent in $10,000.  It is for doubling its donation from $5000/yr to $10,000/yr for 5 year, retroactive to 2013.   WF promised to eventually triple its donation.  WF could have used its "plus $18671" to double.  Instead, it sent $10,000 new money.

Total donation as of today:  $656,900/yr.

Total received:   $1.33 million.  Click here to verify.

Share this news with your friends and family.  They need to know that there is a growing sense of community.  Increasing number of AsAms are willing to sacrifice themselves for the benefit of the whole.

Will You Do You Share?

You can't possibly lose!!!  Your donation will be  refunded in full when requested, if SELF

fails.  You'll get political services many times the worth of your donation, if SELF reaches its $1 million/yr for 5 yrs target.

Donate or E-mail to tell us your share of sacrifice please.  We appeal to YOUR enlightened self-interest!   Time is running out.

We Appeal to Your Enlightened Self Interest

Since the " Sad Announcement " on 6/25 and an unexpected  "Groundswell Movement to Rescue PAC" on the next day, we've redoubled our efforts to save 80-20 PAC.   Some encouraging results!
Wonderful individual knights rode in to greatly push the total donation figure upward.  In addition, we appealed to the big  organizational  donors whom we know well.  The Woo's Foundation, the 80-20 PAC, and the 80-20 Educational Foundation all agreed to triple their donations before the Oct. 25, 2015 deadline.

PAC was the first to fulfill its promise, sending in $40,000.   Our total received is now more than $1.2 million.  Total donations amount to approximately $610,000/yr or 5 years.   Click here to verify.   In the last 21 days, the total donation jumped by $10,000/yr for 5 yrs every 2 days.   At this rate, with 95 days to go,  we'll  make it.
HOWEVER,  realistically we can't.   We are running out of big, organizational donors to appeal to.
We look to you NOW!   Please be as generous as you can TODAY.  You will not lose!!!    If SELF doesn't make  it, your donation will be refunded in full.  If SELF makes it, you'll get many times the worth of your donation.

Donate  or E-mail to tell us your share of sacrifice please.  We appeal to YOUR enlightened self-interest!

80-20 PAC is Dying Fast!

Stock analysts can explain why DOW JONES was up or down the day before, but they can't make a prediction worth a damn what'll happen the next day.  80-20 has predicted BIG political outcomes days, weeks, even months before they happened!

Why is 80-20 so boastful?  80-20 is dying fast, in-spite-of the many knights coming to its rescue.  So we want to tell you, without being shy, how effective we are in serving you, and how much you'll miss us, when we are gone.  If you still don't want to open your pockets, then we've done everything we can to save PAC in order to serve you.  We'll  admit defeat but we'll walk away with our heads held high.

Here are 3 recent examples of our accurate predictions.  The first is about the defeat of SCA-5, Calif. Senate Constitutional Amendment No. 5, which would permit  "race- preference" college admissions in CA.

                              (1) Predicted the Defeat of SCA-5*

(a) Date of Prediction:    Friday, March 14, 2014
Place:  80-20 e-newsletter "UPDATING 80-20's 'Call To Action' on SCA-5"
What was said:  " . . .  SCA 5 is dead.  All who understand politics know that."
     Click here to verify.

(b) Date the event actually occurred:   Three days later, on  March 17 , 2013, when  CA Assembly referred SCA 5 back to the Senate.

                      (2) Predicted and Caused the Political Demise of former Sen. Leland Yee and former Assemblyman Paul Fong

(a) Date of Prediction:  Friday, March 21, 2014
      Place: 80-20 e-newsletter "Q&A on SCA5"
What was said: "  . . .  We need to  pass a strong message to all AsAm politicians  who have  been negligent in defending our rightful interests. So 80-20  recommends UN-electing
        (a) Paul Fong who'll be term-limited out as an Assembly-man and will be running for City Council 1 in San Jose, &
        (b) Leland Yee who is also term-limited out as a Senator and will be running for Secretary of State of CA."
       Click here to verify.

(b) Date the events actually occurred:
         (i) 5 days later, on March 26 , 2014 when Leland Yee was arrested by the FBI,
(ii) On  Nov. 4 2014, when Fong was defeated in his San Jose City  Council race.  80-20 bought air time to defeat him.

                        (3) Recent Prediction: "the Obama Administration would NOT deal with the complaint by the 64 AsAm orgs seriously."

(a) Date of Prediction Wednesday, May 27, 2015
      Place: 80-20 email " Timeline II - Recent Events on Admissions  . . ."
What was said : "  . . .   the Depts of Education and Justice in the Obama  Administration will NOT deal with the complaint seriously.   It is because  the presidential election is near, and Democrats need the bloc vote from the black community, 9 to 1 in favor of a Democratic presidential candidate.  The Asian Am community will, as a result of the non-action of the Democratic administration, be upset with the Democrats, causing them to vote against the Democrats in 2016.   A distinct possibility!"
       Click here to verify.

(b) Date the event actually occurred:  6 days ago, which is 1.5 months after the prediction, DOE  dismissed the complaint on the grounds that  a similar lawsuit is being considered  in federal court .

DO YOU WANT TO SEE 80-20 PAC's DEMISE in about 3 months?  If not, dig deeply into your pocket to

DONATE to SELF, Self Empowerment Long-term Fund!

    These NEW knights arrived:
Kevin Wang , SF, CA: a $500/yr donor send in another $2,500,
Anonymous, Bethasta, MD: A new  $1000/yr for 5 yrs donor
Anonymous, chesterfield, MO:  A new  $1000/yr for 5 yrs donor,
Peng Sun, Chapel Hill, NC: a $100/yr donor has upgraded  10x
Anthony Leung , Kensigton, CA: a $100 donor has upgraded 5x
Ramon and Victoria Lim,  Iowa City, IA: $500/yr donors have upgraded 2x
Tens of others have upgraded 2x or become new donors.  Click here to verify.

DOJ has not dismissed the complaint yet.  80-20 is working behind the scene trying to get high level officials to understand that DOJ should take the case. We warned that otherwise there could be a severe backlash against Democrats in the 2006 election.

The "One for All and All for One" Community Spirit is Glorious!

Q1:  Is getting SELF to its target of $1 million per yr for 5 yrs glorious?

NO!!!  It's only $5 million dollars.  Although that is a lot of money, it is something that any super-rich individual could donate at the snap of his/her fingers.  What we are doing here is much much more significant than that.

Q2:  But it'll save PAC.  Isn't that a glorious achievement?

Yes and no.   80-20 PAC has political knowledge, experience, integrity and leadership that is unmatched within the AsAm community.  So that is worth a lot. However, don't forget it's the $5 million that will be saving 80-20 PAC -- any super-rich individual could give that $5 million at the snap of his/her fingers.  What we are doing here is  much much more significant than that.

Q3: So what are we doing that is " much much more significant"?

Our $5 million will NOT be coming from the kind heart of ONE rich individual. In contrast, it'll come from the COLLECTIVE intelligence, heart, sacrifice and political awareness of our community that has developed the great spirit of "One for All and All for One."

    This is the spirit that the old war-horses at 80-20 have volunteered 16 years of their lives for;
    this is the spirit that all supporters of 80-20 have sacrificed their hard-earned money to help nurture and develop;
    this is the spirit that will deter others from treading on our community, and eventually lift us to become equal citizens with the help of 80-20 PAC;
this is the spirit that thousands of super-rich individuals, putting all their money together, cannot possibly produce, within days or weeks or months or even years.

It took 16 years of working together to develop that spirit!

But!  The job is not done yet.  Many of the old war-horses will be fading away soon.  If you agree that this spirit of "one for all and all for one" is what is truly glorious, precious and powerful to protect our rights, then do your share.

                                          DONATE!

Either Sufficient Support or Death!

Q&A on the Life or Death of 80-20 PAC (Read Q&A3!)

Q1:  Why has 80-20 PAC chosen death rather than hanging on?

80-20 has seen many similar AsAm organizations providing negative service to our community.   80-20 PAC could one day become a negative-service organization. So it is better to cease operations  than struggle to hang on.

Q2:  Negative service?  Could you give an example?

The support for "race conscious" college admissions by many so-called "AsAm civil rights orgs" is one example.  Even when discrimination against  AsAm  college applicants became so obvious  that school counselors have to advise our kids to hide their AsAm ethnic  background  when applying - a clear  indication that AsAms don't even have  the minimal human  rights of  self-respect, these civil right orgs still didn't change their position.  How ugly the real world can be!

Q3:  Do these civil rights org. WANT to harm our community? (must read!!)

NO!  They drifted into it.  The first generation founders were usually volunteers & had noble  intentions .  But sooner or later, they  faded away.  The later leaders were usually paid a salary. They might not be as dedicated  and/or as capable. Lacking prestige, the subsequent  leaders couldn't raise enough money from the  AsAm community.   So they  began to go after grants from the generous mainstream foundations  and corporations.

However, raising money  from American orgs, that support civil rights, is almost impossible WITHOUT THE BLESSINGS of  NAACPNAACP has won civil rights for all minorities of America, including us.   However, does NAACP always have the same interests as AsAms?    No!!  That is when AsAm civil rights orgs would and will support policies at  the expense of AsAms.   Money talks!   Make it talk for us.

Q4:  So is it the fault of these civil rights orgs?

NO!   The subsequent leaders of our civil rights orgs are mostly new college graduates.  They may be too young to face the tough real world.

Personally, I primarily blame the successful AsAm business leaders  who, as a group, don't have the wisdom to bear the responsibility of financing   the  necessary community infrastructures - PACs, civil rights orgs, & think-tanks.

Instead, our rich  people compete  to give money to Harvard and buy a name on a Harvard  building.   A recent NY Times satire, entitled "Harvard Admissions Needs 'Moneyball for Life'  stated:

" They (meaning the rich people who climb over each other to donate to Harvard)  weren't  put on earth to alleviate human suffering, or to make it a different and  better place. They were put on earth  to erect a building  with their name on it, in a place it  can be  seen and admired by other people like  them!"
Pls. "google" to find out which wealthy AsAms are these belittled moneyballs.

The unwillingness of AsAm rich and powerful to invest in our community contrasts strikingly  with those of the Jewish community.  Most AsAms are NOT willing to speak out on this point  for fear of offending these folks.  However, someone has to point out this HUGE weakness.

"To those whom much is given, much is required.
                                                      -  John F. Kennedy, a Harvard graduate

Q5:  Want to make a concluding statement?

Sure.  SELF needs to reach $1 million/yr for 5 yrs by Oct. 25.  Many of 80-20's
"old war-horses" don't have many years left to recruit and train promising young leaders,  who have to possess leadership quality, great work ethic and a passion to serve  AsAms.  They also have to be  intelligent .  No intelligent young professional will  want to leave their profession to enter the rough and tumble political arena  of 80-20 PAC,  if the PAC doesn't even have a minimal financial basis

So now you know!   That's why PAC has chosen to either live  and serve YOU well or  DIE. The AsAm community, with such a high % of  new immigrants, is politically immature.  For 80-20 PAC to possibly  collude with politicians to deceive you, it'll be disastrous for our community.

July 4th & Honest Self Examination

On July 4th, display a flag.

This is the right occasion to re-publish the following.
We Are Partially at Fault in Being Treated as Perpetual Foreigners:

o  When immigrants among us voluntarily changed our citizenship, they swore primary allegiance to the U.S. However, a large % STILL consider themselves citizens of the "old country."  We can't have the cake and eat it too!  If we want equal opportunity in the U.S. then our primary allegiance must be tAmerica.

While the first generation Irish, Polish, and Jewish showed the same tendenciesthe one billion plus population, each in China and in India  pose a different geopolitical consideration for a declining U.S.  Are we wise enough to understand the real world?

o   The rotten apples among AsAms even sold America's lifeblood -- classified and proprietary information -- to enrich themselves AND at the expense of the rest of us who will face consequent suspicions.  Have we ever initiated community educational programs to condemn such behavior to protect  America's vital interests and to prevent ourselves from being considered "perpetual foreigners"?

We  must be fair with America, if we want America to be fair with us.

Will We Ever Win Equal Opportunity?
Of course, it's only a matter of time.  80-20 wants to help make it happen much sooner. Seize the moment!   We need:

(1) to look at ourselves  honestly, which is why this piece is re-published in connection  with the occasion of the July 4th celebration, and
(2) to use our

DONATE to SELFSelf Empowerment Longterm Fund.
80-20 thanks all the KNIGHTS coming to SELF's rescue.
