Matching Fund Available Again!

Victor Huang of Castro Valley, CA sent 80-20 a $5,000 payment for Matching Fund after seeing 80-20's video:
Should AsAms be active in Am politics? (3'20") and an accompanying PowerPoint in pdf form:

Upon seeing Victor's $5k payment via Paypal, I thanked  him telling him that 80-20'd acknowledge a matching-fund-donors differently but his ability to get the tax deduction remained the same.

    SURPRISE & FUN began!

    From Victor Huang:
"No problem, happy to help.  Acknowledgement and the tax deduction were not considerations when donating.  You may announce that I have donated the $5,000 for a matching fund.  Please let me know if I may be of further assistance."

From me, being thick-skinned, I replied:
"Thank you, Victor. :-)   Thanks for offering "further assistance".  Since I am not asking for things for myself, one day I may just take you up on it.  :-)  You seem a great guy. Best, SB"

From Victor Huang, who replied to my reply:
"Absolutely.  It is a standing offer, so please feel free to take me up on it whenever you deem fit.  Judging from your work, you seem like a great guy, too :)   -Victor"

      AREN'T YOU IMPRESSED?

Our community has many GOOD GUYS like Victor Huang.  That is why our children will have a BRIGHT future.  I am sooooooo privileged to meet people like Victor Huang through volunteering for 80-20.

             DONATE HERE
to exhaust Victor's $5k Matching Fund in 1 day!

It's not hard to exhaust his $5k in 1 day in order to help SELF succeed.  It takes only 1 person to donate $1,000 per year for 5 years, or 10 persons to give $100 per year for 5 years, or 50 persons to each give a $100 lump sum donation TODAY.

I promise YOU, if you'll achieve that - I'll find another $5k matching-fund-donor tomorrow to salute YOU for the GREAT community spirit YOU've displayed.

Don't Forget To View the Video and PowerPoint!

80-20 volunteers, H. P. Wang of Rexford, NY and Yiming Lou of Cupertino, CA made the above PowerPoint and video respectively.  If you like it, please forward them to your friends.  Thanks.

Who will fight for YOU, if not YOU?

Click on Should AsAms be active in Am politics?  to view a 1 min. 40 sec video giving you a VERY quick overview of a great PowerPoint of 51 slides, composed by H. P. Wang, an 80-20 volunteer.   You'll quickly get a very rough idea of what the PowerPoint is all about.

After viewing the video, you can always see those 51 slides at your own pace, by clicking on the blue link below.

                               80-20 SELF FUND -04172015.pdf

It is the BEST powerpoint presentation of "why AsAms need to be active in Am politics" that I've ever seen.   Comprehensive!  Factual!  Succinct!

When I finished viewing the video and the pdf file, I was so moved knowing that I had the great privilege to fight for AsAms' rights through in the last 16 years. Wished that I'd have another 50 years to give.  But I don't at 77.

SO IT IS NOW UP TO ALL OF YOU!

Someone must fight for our children who are too young, and most of the recent immigrants who are too new to America.  If YOU will just do YOUR share, everything will work out!

  Do YOUR SHARE please.

Winning in the court of public opinion

Winning in the court of public opinion - the 1st step

The National Review, a conservative semi-monthly, has joined other prestigious papers and magazines like

(2) 11/14, Wall Street Journal, " Harvard's Asian Problem ",
(3) 11/14, NY Times, " Is Harvard Unfair to AsAms? ",
(4) 12/14, The  Atlantic,  " Do diversity indirectly discriminate against AsAms?"

in publishing  a powerful article condemning college admissions based on "race preference."  Its title, in an article by John Fund published on Apr. 5, 2015, is

One Indian American says he overcame anti-Asian bias and got into med school by claiming he was black.

" . . . . .But the group bringing the lawsuit,  Students for Fair Admissions, won a powerful PR ally this week : Vijay Chokal-Ingam, an Indian American who happens to be the brother of Fox comedy star Mindy Kaling, revealed that he won acceptance to medical school  by claiming to be black .  Frustrated at being rejected by medical schools in part because of mediocre test scores and a 3.1 grade point average, Chokal-Ingam shaved off his slick black hair in 2001, began using his middle name, "Jojo," and checked the "black" box on his applications. He soon won interviews at Harvard and Columbia and a spot on waiting lists at the University of Pennsylvania, Washington University, and Mt. Sinai.  . . . . "

The EMPEROR, that calls itself "race-preference" college admissions, HAS NO CLOTHES!

Good News? AsAm "Civil Rights" OrgsAwakening?

OCAAPALCAAJC, & JACL all seem to be backing away from "race-preference" college admissions.  Until recently, they file amicus briefs to support that  policy.  I doubt if they'll do that again, thanks to all of you who stopped supporting them.

Some of them, however, still speak out of both sides of their mouths -- a comical situation. 80-20 urges them to make a clean break with their past support of  "race preference" college admissions.  IF and when they'll  do so,  80-20 shall thank, salute, and  welcome them .   We'll inform you when it seems "safe" to support them again.

Effectiveness!   That is 80-20's name. You need 80-20's effectiveness to protect your interests.  80-20 may demise soon.

AALDEF of NY still supports "race conscious" college admissions.  Don't support it.

Unite to Support C-100’s Initiative

TV Ads that Hurt ALL Asian Americans?

Demagogic political attacks on China often plays into anti-Asian racial prejudices?   Here are examples.

(1)  The Chinese Professor video:  It was made in 2010 and also used in subsequent elections.
(2)  The Debbie SpendItNow video:  It was made in 2012 and aired during the Super Bowl for the Michigan Senate race.  The actress was a UC-Berkeley graduate.

80-20 shall help STOP such demagogic political ads which arouse suspicion, prejudice, hatred or fear of Asian Ams.

Bear in mind that any ad remotely suggesting anti-Semitism or anti-black would never be tolerated and indeed be harshly dealt with.

                                              Stop Such Ads!

Support  Committee 100 's (C-100) initiative on " Racial Prejudice Has No Place in the 2016 Elections ".  80-20's Boards have voted to ENDORSE it. See footnote for the guiding principles of this C-100 initiative.

Pending further development in the membership meeting of C-100, 80-20 may do much more than just endorsing the initiative.

C-100 and its 25th Anniversary Summit

C-100 is a prestigious organization.  A number of 80-20's Board members, including Alice Huang and I used to be its members.  We both left it.  I left it, because I thought many members of C-100 at the time were not willing to sacrifice a little to provide needed service for the Chinese- or Asian- Am. community. I often quoted JF Kennedy and pleaded with members of C-100 that
"To those whom much is given much is required.

Now, C-100 has done something most worthy. In a gala to celebrate its 25th Anniversary, one of its main themes is

Racial Prejudice Has No Place in the 2016 Elections - Let's work together to build a more inclusive society- beginning now"

Henry Kissinger, Chinese ambassador to the U.S. Cui Tianka, two former U.S. ambassadors to China, Steve Schwarzman of the Blackstone Group, and representatives of DNC (Democratic National Comm.) and RNC (Republican National Comm.) will be there together with many of the C-100 members.

Henry Kissinger and Ambassador Cui will speak on 4/9.  Presumably, Henry Kissinger who has always spoken out against unprincipled anti-China election rhetoric that could harm Asian Americans, will bring up that topic again.  Jing-Li Yu, an EF Board member, and I will both be at the sessions on 4/10 where representatives of DNC and RNC will speak to lend support to C-100.

80-20 urges all Asian Americans to actively support C-100's initiative 80-20 is never turf-conscious, because UNITY is our goal.

Do not defame the Chinese people with racially-charged campaign messaging, including racial caricatures, mocked accents, and crude stereotypes
