Political Dirty Tricks Time

Beware of dirty tricks against 80-20 in an election year. They are actually dirty tricks against YOU -- to prevent YOU from having an effective political voice. Watch out for FAKE 80-20 e-mails. Such e-mails may have addresses similar or even identical to sbw@80-20.info or sbw@80-20.net . To help you so that you'll not be misled:

80-20 NEVER
  • sends attachments or warns you about a virus via its mass e-mails,
  • pushes pornography or physical enhancement,
  • sells products, o takes a partisan stand (until we endorse in order to reward a presidential candidate who has done the better job to advance our rightful interests. An Endorsement Convention (EC) will be held. Delegates to EC are elected through an open & democratic election by all members),
  • takes a stand on US foreign policy (80-20 has the right to take a stand, but we choose not to in order to avoid causing splits within the AsAm community), and
  • changes its endorsement of a presidential candidate in the last days of the election season. Watch out for such a dirty trick, a day or two before November 2, 2004.

When you encounter a possible FAKE 80-20 emails that may have significant impact e.g. declaring a changed 80-20 presidential endorsement," please be so kind as to check with 80-20 by emailing jingliyu@earthlink.net as soon as possible. Thank YOU.

GOOD NEWS:

A Mid-Missouri 80-20 chapter has been formed under the capable leadership of Henry Liu, who ran for 80-20's 2004 Board but was unfortunately not elected. It has 35 members. 25 members is the minimum to become a chapter.

A Personal Appeal from S. B. Woo

Dear Friends:

I appeal to you to JOIN 80-20 as a member, if you have NOT already done so.

Won't you be a pillar of strength for our community? Won't you be that rare individual who is willing to sacrifice a little? Won't you show your leadership quality for the people around you? Many in our community have already demonstrated self-sacrifice & leadership.

Just this month, Shirley Young of Shirley Young Associates LLC sent 80-20 $5,000. Gareth Chang, our Nat'l Fundraising Chair, has given another $2,000 besides recruiting 11 Life Members: Paul Zee, Sue Zhang, Paul Chang, Jennie Vong, Leo and Ivey Chu, Andy and Joyce Lee, & two others who wish to be anonymous. Charles Zhang of Michigan, co-author of a highly praised McGraw Hill book entitled "Make Yourself a Millionaire,** sent $3500. That is not to mention that another 1100 persons who have ALREADY joined 80-20 by 3/19/04. See http://www.80-2 0initiative.net/memberlist2004.html

However, we aim to go from 2000+ members in 2003 to 3000 this year! This is the election year. This is the year when all our hard work of the past 6 years may be paying off. At this critical time, 80-20 must show a big increase in membership AND a big war chest to the political establishment. WON'T YOU PLEASE JOIN ME* to better our destiny?

See below for methods of payment. Equal opportunity in workplaces, partially through 80-20's effort, is within our reach, if YOU will do your share.

Most sincerely,
S. B. Woo President The 80-20 PAC, Inc.

* As you may know, I've worked about 60 hour per week for 80-20 for the last 6 years without pay. In addition, since early 2000, I announced NEVER to run for office or accept government appointments in order to allay people's suspicion of my motives. I also changed my voter registration from "Dem." to "Indep." Lastly, I contributed at least $20,000 to 80-20 over those years. PLEASE JOIN 80-20 NOW.

Power of a BLOC VOTE, illustrated

The following shows how a BLOC VOTE by AsAms in Calif., who represent only 8% of CA's voters, can tip the 55 electoral votes to either Bush or Kerry.

Don't believe it? Read on!!

Two presidential candidates are contesting for CA, which for simplicity is assumed to have two constituent groups only. One group has only 1 million votes (8%) and the other has 11 million votes (92%). Candidate A decides to spend his resources on the larger group. Candidate B decides to spend his resources mostly courting the much smaller minority community that has the ability to deliver 80 % of its votes to its endorsed candidate, much like what the Jewish American and African American communities has done for decades.

When the ballots are counted, presidential candidate A wins the larger community by the ratio of 52/48. The margin of difference is 4%. Since the larger group has 11 millions votes, 4% of 11 million votes provides a winning margin of 440,000 votes to candidate A. Presidential candidate B, having won the endorsement of the minority community, won that community's vote by a ratio of 80 to 20. The difference between 80% and 20% is 60%. 60% of 1 million votes is 600,000 votes. As a result, presidential candidate B wins CA's 55 electoral votes by (600,000 minus 440,000) electoral votes 160,000 votes. Note that 55 electoral votes represent more than 20% of what a candidate will need to be the next President of the US.

Astounding? Yes. That is why 80-20 emphasizes a BLOC VOTE, and why 80-20 has been effective in gathering political clout on YOUR behalf. Unity is power, please help back.

Why A Bloc Vote Benefits YOU

Can YOU use more political clout? If your answer is YES, then knowing the following may help YOU besides the benefits coming to YOU from a BLOC VOTE.

1) Politics is the exchange of interests between YOU and someone else:

Hence if YOU want someone or entity to give you BIG interests, we need to give BIG interests back. To both political parties, there is NO bigger interest than winning the White House. Since our BLOC vote can significantly increase or diminish their chance to occupy the White House, they are willing to give BIG interest to us in return.

For example, we want to break the glass ceiling above us and our children, so we'll give a bloc vote to the president or presidential candidate who will enforce Exec. Order 11246 for us in return. In ten years, the enforcement of 11246 is estimated to INCREASE the number of Asian American executives/administrators/senior partners/ managers by 3 FOLD!

As a counter example, if our community contributes 5 million dollars to a presidential candidate, only 2.5% of what is needed to run a campaign, win or lose, we may at best get a number of sub-cabinet appointments, most of whom are eager to distance themselves from our community as soon as they are appointed.

2) Politics depend on large numbers.

Delivering 2000 votes may mean something in a city council election and gets you a contact in a zoning application. But in a presidential election, 2000 votes are in the noise level.

In contrast, delivering 600,000 Asian American votes in California may MAKE OR UNMAKE THE NEXT PRESIDENT and therefore win the enforcement of Exec. Order11246 for us in return. Note that 11246 has been enforced for all Americans EXCEPT us and our children. ARE YOUR MAD ENOUGH TO FIGHT?

80-20 has already gotten John Kerry to promise IN WRITING the enforcement of E.O. 11246 upon his becoming the President. George Bush has not. His campaign says that he'll answer this month. As the President, Mr. Bush can actually order the Labor Dept. to begin enforcing EO 11246 beginning TODAY! Join the Fight to get our equal opportunity. Whosoever helps us, we'll help back!

80-20 has 650,000 e-mail addresses, reaching about 50% or 1 million Asian American voters all in one day. It needs a large war chest in 2004 to deliver the BIG interests.

Will You Consider?

If you have not already, will you consider joining 80-20 as a member?

This is the election year. A big increase in membership will help GREATLY the case 80-20 is making for you and your children before the presidential candidates.

This is crunch time. 80-20 has already demonstrated unprecedented success on your behalf in matters big or small. Recall our recent emails to you entitled " ALL Dem. Presidential Candidates Answered Yes/Yes/Yes," and "Yao Ming Called A Chinaman." If you would join us at this critical moment, it'll be such an encouragement to all of us. President Bush has begun his campaign. We expect him to answer Yes/Yes/Yes also, to give you equal opportunity in workplaces. The best way to urge him to do so is your joining 80-20 TODAY. We are ahead of last year's pace in number of members and dollars, but we NEED a big big increase. That's the message that politicians understand!!!

Basic (1 vote) -- $35
Family (Two names to get 2 votes) -- $50
Life -- $1000
